What a Wonderful
World
by Ron Nicholas
If marriages lasted
forever
If it rained only one day a week
If sharks had the same mouth as lizards
If snakes did nothing but squeak
The world as we see it is lovely
With nice homes and plenty to eat
Why cannot the same be established?
For the hungry ones without wheat
I sit here and think of the future
Just how wonderful it could be made
If factories turned out only good things
And all third world debts had been payed
If people loved all birds and animals
If the sun shone all day without burn
Children playing away without fighting
And waiting until they take a turn
If grown-ups got pleasure from giving
And thinking of others the norm
And celebrations continue forever
Each time a baby was born
Have alcohol turn into ice-cream
Whenever a mans had enough
And cigarettes tasting like phenyl
Whenever someone has a puff
That laws all be rewritten
To make sense and cut to a few
With lawyers employed doing good work
With great ideas that are new
Have scientists and chemists work wonders
With cures for all our ills
Don’t matter if it’s a sore throat or cancer]
You cure it with a couple of pills
With dope and drugs not a problem
You’re content, so there is no need
With nations prosperous and happy
All living on earth without greed
No more earthquakes, road or air crashes
No more swimmers or boats lost at sea
No more bush fires or cyclones to maim us
What a wonderful world it would be
