Tree Damage – Why?

Trees on the foreshore are being damaged and vandalized. Native indigenous vegetation, and in particular foreshore vegetation, plays an important role in our urban environment, providing valuable habitat for the many birds and other small animals in the area. Trees also have a special intrinsic value providing shade, acting as wind breaks and being an important part of the aesthetic appeal of our foreshore.

It is illegal to damage, destroy or cut down trees on shire or foreshore land. To assist in preventing damage and destruction to trees and native vegetation, please report any information on tree or foreshore damage to the Department of Sustainability and Environment on 5183 9100.
