For days there have been big swells, water washing up to the dunes at high tide making night fishing dangerous. After overnight gales which have caused a step of at least a metre to have been washed out of part of the beach. The surf is now calm but only a shallow channel exists. Some good catches of salmon over the past week, also small spotties. Draughtboard sharks and skate are a bit of a nuisance.

The very sudden cool conditions have dramatically changed the fishing results at the surf beach. Draughtboard sharks are a plentiful nuisance to evening fishers.
Good bags of large salmon to 3.5kgs were caught this morning but the fish have not appeared regularly, in fact on many occasions fishers have left the beach empty handed.
The channel is now deep and wide, conditions appear excellent.
