Our Fishing Reports are factual from people who actually fish the area. Unlike some fishing sites who just copy stuff that is weeks old and claim it as their own.
If the fishing has been bad we say so and do not pretend otherwise just to get you here. Reports are updated weekly, usually Thursdays.

90 Mile Beach
Surf conditions have improved lately, but we still have some Easterly winds and some red weed. The channel is deep and very wide. Catches are not very good though, fishers have to be content to just take home a fish or two. Some tailor, flathead, mullet, salmon and gummies. One gummy landed was 1.3 metre's and weighed 9.6kg, caught on blue bait at low tide. As far as fishers are concerned the fact that no skate and very few other species of rays have been caught since last spring, has been terrific this season. One would wonder why, and where they have gone as recent seasons have been prolific for rays. Maybe the influx of bronzies this year have chased them away! Who knows! Certainly saved a lot of effort and damage to fishing gear.

We still have strong winds, mainly Easterly, with big swells driving surf and sand up the beach making it almost impossible to land a big fish. Fine weed has just arrived - again - making fishing extremely difficult.
Mixed reports over the week, most fishers have caught very little, yet a few other fishers have reported good catches, including salmon, flathead, mullet, tailor, trevally and gummies to about 1.2 metre's.
Thu 15 - 3 - 07

Early Morning - No wind, sea rough with an enormous swell. Fished awhile but left before high tide. Waves were breaking so hard the water must have been shooting three metre's in the air then the water raced up the beach taking all before it and flooding the beach. Loose sand was washing in making it very hard to walk without sinking, also a little red weed. Two brave fishers arrived as I was leaving.
Midday - No wind, hot day, sea now calm but very murky looking, water now full of red weed. Only one fisher leaving after 3 hours. No fish and tired of picking off so much fine weed.

We fished Saturday the 3rd of March at the second carpark, full moon and rising tide, wind was North Easterly and then dramatically changed to a strong South Westerly which made fishing tough, an elderly gentleman and wife reeled in a 3 to 4 pound salmon at about 6pm and some guys on our right pulled in a small skate about the same time. A lady fisher person gave up just on dark for nil. Crabs were about, at around 9:30 pm we pulled in 3 flathead, a trevally and a mullet, missed one good bite which had the rod well bent. The bites ceased and when the lines were reeled in the bait was still on, so we pulled the pin at 10:30.

There must have been every surf condition possible this week with rough seas, wind, rain, sidewash and weed. Catches were poor with only a few large salmon, small flathead, mullet and a couple of small gummies (just size). A wide deep channel exists. The water is noticeably cooler.
