With
such a lot of calm weather, catches of fish at the surf
have been minimal. For a couple of days catches improved
whilst the water became rough, with quite a few salmon
and a large one weighing at least 2.5kg. Red weed has
showed it's face, but not caused too much trouble. Channel
good. |

Evening - Fished 3 hours. Wind moved from North West
to North East, water fairly calm. Only draughtboard
sharks. Red weed was a nuisance. |

8pm - Tried fishing for 1 1/2 hours, breeze from West
was getting cold and very cloudy, not even a bite. |

a few waves. A couple of fishers who couldn't get
a bite, said they caught a mullet yesterday afternoon. |

on the beach. Only a couple of fishers and no bites.
6pm - Tried fishing but at dark the swell became powerful
making fishing too dangerous so left after a short
time. Draughtboard sharks kept pulling at the bait. |

surf conditions have been good all week. Sand was washed
into the channel but quickly put back again. Fish have
been scarce with only a few salmon on a couple of days.
Skate have been caught.
Reports of several good sized bream making their home
beneath the deep water jetty waiting for an alert fisher. |

fishers but no report of fish. Quite a big swell with
water washing well up the beach which has been washed
away again over the weekend making the edge shallow. |

fishers. One group had 5 good sized salmon and reported
catching 9 in the morning. Other fishers had fish but
all were complaining about the red weed that kept catching
on their lines. |

For
several days this week the surf has been dead calm but
now the strong winds have whipped up some waves making
conditions rough. Very few salmon have been caught and
only in rough conditions. A late report received of
two 5kg salmon being landed on Tuesday. The channel
is good, running in crescents with patches of shallow
in between. |

The
surf beach changes so much from day to day. Again sidewash
has swept sand into the channel and is now being washed
back onto the beach, improving the channel.
Some good catches of salmon, mostly around 1kg size,
being caught in the roughest water. As the water calms
down the catches reduce.
Blue surf poppers seem successful. Plenty of draughtboard
sharks, skates and crabs taking the bait. There is anger
about 5 draughtboard sharks found dumped on the beach. |
